• When travelling with small children it is advisable for children under six to carry identification cards with their name, hotel or villa address and a contact phone number, as every day children get lost in the theme parks, you should explain to your child to go up to one of the many employees. On entering the parks it is recommend that you arrange a meeting point in case any of your party get separated.
• Due to the vastness of the theme parks it is worth remembering that small children will need a break half way through the day, so if you arrive early then by mid afternoon they will be ready to drop, so either take a long lunch or you can leave the park and relax at your hotel for a few hours and return later for a further assault on the park, when the temperatures are beginning to cool down plus the park takes on a magical feel with the soft evening lights.
• All the parks offer a child swap programme when your child is to young or small to ride on the attraction, which enables one parent to ride the ride whilst the other looks after the child, then they swap so that they do not have to queue all over again.
• It is worth remembering to take a spare set of clothes as your child could end up very wet when playing in one of the many "splash areas" they will get exceptionally wet and drying off naturally may not be possible.
• Baby Services locations are ideal for moms with infants. Located at all four Disney theme parks, the private rooms offer comfortable seating and low lighting for nursing mothers, feeding rooms with highchairs, bibs, plastic spoons and diaper changing rooms. Baby-care products such as disposable diapers, pull-on rubber pants, formula and teethers are for sale.
• There's baby-changing stations in all bathrooms, including men's and family restrooms.
• Make sure your child knows what to do if he/she gets lost - tell them that cast members wear name badges and to go to one of them immediately if he/she gets lost; or for older kids arrange a place to meet if they get lost. It's a good idea to write down the child's name, any medical problems, your name and address of where you are staying, on a piece of paper, which you can then either laminate or put in one of those clear plastic badges. You can then either pin it to the child's clothes, or out it in his/her pocket/bag.
• If you do lose your child, report to Guest Relations/City Hall, Baby Care Centre, or tell a Cast Member.
• "Mickey mac's" or rain ponchos are advisable as Florida has rain showers throughout the year.
• Bring snacks for energy and remember during the hot summer months especially to consume lots of water, water fountains can be found around all the parks.
• All the major parks offer stroller rental, plus they all offer excellent nursing facilities, plus diaper changing facilities can be found in both the women's and men's restrooms.
• Disney parks tend to have few health and height restrictions whilst Universal is more limiting for smaller children, whilst Islands of Adventure carries warnings on over 9 rides but as with Universal it has a designated children's area. SeaWorld only have height restrictions on a couple of rides whilst at Discovery Cove you must be six years of age to swim with the dolphins.
• Children's menus are readily available throughout all the theme park restaurants, most of the restaurants in the surrounding area offer children's menus and readily welcome them in plus they offer colouring pencils as a distraction whilst they are waiting. There are a few of the more expensive and dressy restaurants that discourage children by failing to supply children's menus.
• Disney theme parks offer character breakfast, lunch and dinner at many of their restaurants, this is a must for the little ones just to see there excitement and expressions, Universal offers this attraction to but not on the scale of the Disney theme parks.
• Be prepared for the Florida sunshine. Bring extra sunscreen, a hat, umbrella, plus a jacket for chilly, air-conditioned theatres.
